If dark energy is the energy of “empty space” (although how can space be “empty” if it contains energy and maybe dark matter also) and empty space is expanding then is the energy of the Universe expanding also? We were taught that mass-energy can neither be created nor destroyed but here it seems to be continuously created. Or what am I conjecturing wrong?
